Thank you, again!

Just wanted to take a moment to say thank you one last time. For many of you, I have done the thank yous by snail mail, and I have a couple more to do. BUT, generosity overflowed, and I have some additions to make to the originals.

To M,M,V & E: thanks once again for the wonderful dinner out. I enjoyed your company more than you know. I was so pre occupied with thanking you for your part in the party, that I forgot to say a big thank you for the gift certificate. I cannot wait to use it. I love you all!

To T,D,S & L: thank you for the charm bracelet. You know I love bracelets and this one is a kicker. Combined with my "gramcracker" bracelet, I AM MOST CERTAINLY STYLING! I love you all!

To Sherry: RED, wow; I have never had a red purse. Thank you; you know how I love that splash of color. Love you too!

To anyone who sent cards and well wishes, I send hugs and kisses. My 65Th birthday really rocked and I don't feel a day over 59, even with the fact that I have teen-aged grandchildren, and son's who are 41 and 38. Everyday I wake up, I say a big thank you for being on this side of the dirt, so God Bless you all!!

Today is YOUR BIRTHDAY, it's MY BIRTHDAY TOO

Happy Birthday Tim!

Forty-one years ago, I was blessed with a Son
The journey of Mother Hood had just begun.
He graced my presence with his smile
He came into this world backwards with style.

Now, one thing I have failed to say
He joined our family on my twenty-forth birthday.
What a special gift for a Mother to receive
A new born Son, for everyone to see.

May future years bring you happiness and love,
And you soar to the top on the wings of a dove.
Thank you for the blessings you have brought to my heart,
I have loved you always right from the start.

SPRING??.........well, maybe

This is proof positive that spring is on it's way. These are pictures from my neighbor across the street. I could not believe that the jonquils or daffodils or what ever they are, are in bloom. My front tree has buds on it too. Now, if it freezes again, and it probably will, those buds will freeze, and that's a plus. Those buds are those maple tree seeds and they are the pits to deal with.
Anyway, Danelle mentioned that she wanted to see tulips, and I don't have any tulip pictures, so I hope she likes seeing these.
Just a reminder, this is Kansas and it's a good bet that we will have another push of winter. I hope I am wrong about that, because these last few days have been beautiful, as beautiful as Kansas gets.

Surprise~Suprise~Surprise!!

Oh my, am I a lucky person. My family gave me a surprise birthday celebration this evening. AND, they got me. They did a very good job of keeping it a secret. EVEN THE KIDS didn't let the cat out of the bag. Very good job everyone!
We had a lovely, yummy dinner at the Italian Garden's restaurant. Everyone reported to me that my daughter in law, Michelle was the planner and what an absolutely wonderful job she did. Thank you so much sweetie. The food she picked out was good, and I even had a great birthday cake. I was trying to remember the last time I had a birthday cake and I think it was when I was 60, and it was complements of Sharon. I have a ton of pictures, too many to post on this blog. In looking through them, I didn't get a picture of my great great niece or my daughter in law Danelle, why is that?? Darn it!! The two I posted are of those closest to my heart. I am going to put the rest on MySpace and on Facebook, so you can steal any that you want from there. I am NOT 65 yet, but it's close. I don't feel a day over 59. Just a few aches and pains. God has been good to me and I am grateful. Thanks for coming: Tim, Danelle, Shelbie, Landon, Mark, Michelle, Valleri, Emily, Sherry, Andy, Andra, Alyssa, Chris, Gere, Scott, Sara, Nick, Wanda, Leon, Marie, Bill, Carla, Sharon and Maxine. I love you all.
A great big THANK YOU to my boys and their families. It was a wonderful surprise! I cannot tell you how much I love being reminded that I am "old". Just kidding. It was absolutely great.

So Pretty

Wanted to share a picture of an Afghan that was made for me. My cousin, Sunny made this and gave it to me for my birthday (early). It is almost exact match to the carpet. I am not sure that you can see the pattern in it, but it is certainly a work of art. I took this picture without the flash, with the flash you can't get any image of the pattern. It is so pretty on the chair, or the sofa, but I like it best on this chair. Thank you "Loretta Lee", I love it.

Birthday (s) Celebration!

February Birthday People

Here are just a few of the photo's I took at our February Birthday (s) celebration. Both of my sons were born in February, their birthday's are 9 days apart. We actually celebrated Mark's birthday tonight. He will be gone on his special day.

Gary used to say that February was a month like December. All of us, except for him has February birthdays. Even me. Tim was born on my birthday 41 years ago, and Mark came a bit early, otherwise, who knows maybe he would have been born on the 26th too. That would have been a history maker....huh??
It was so nice to sit and look down the table at the whole lot of them. What a special treat. Nothing better than being with your kids and grand kids. The two middles must have had a riot of a time, all giggles. Loved that. My little prince was his usual self, such a boy. I love it and him. Val, the oldest was served her drink in a kiddie cup. That was not cool. She finally got a bigger glass, then they didn't bring her dinner until much later. I think the cook was smoking crack. I really get un-nerved when those type of things happen, but she said it was good, so alls well that ends well. So happy birthday to all those "young-uns" born in February.

...............and so the season ends.

These are the last of the basketball season photos. Emily competed in the regional/district free throw competition. Today was not her day. What a thrill the season was for her. She loves basketball, and is good at the game. We were all so very proud of her accomplishments and look forward to next season. Emily you are most definitely the best.

Just a little something about MY baby boy.
He brings smiles and a whole lot of joy.
He is soon to turn 38 years of age.
With his wisdom, he is definitely our sage.

He came into this world a few days early,
So small and so sweet, never thought he’d be burley.
He is certainly one of my most favorite things,
And he has always made my heart sing.

My life was twice blessed the day he was born,
The heavens smiled down, and the sun brightly shown.
He has totally blessed my heart,
And I loved him completely, right from the start.
Happy Birthday February 17

God's Promise~The Rainbow

Genesis 9: 13-17
...........God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth."
I took these pictures this evening of the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen. It moved me to read the scripture I have referenced above. When I first saw the rainbow, I didn't have my camera with me, I ran home to get it. The colors were not as vibrant as the sun was lower. But you get the idea. It was beautiful and I was fortunate to share the experience with my friend Faye.

CONGRATULATIONS JULI AND LES!! 30 YEARS

I was thrilled to get this picture of my nephew, Leslie and his wife Juli. They are celebrating being married 30 years. They are a handsome couple! The first time I met Leslie he was just your typical little "rug rat". Good grief he is on the plus side of 50 now. They live in the state of Washington and Les plays in the blues band "Becky Sue and her Big Rocking Daddies". Les plays the bass and has won many many many awards for it. And they are an award winning band. You should check them out if you get the chance. I must confess I am not a typical blues fan, but I do enjoy listening to their music. Juli has been with the Boeing Company for 29 years, and that must be some kind of record all by itself. I toast continued happiness, prosperity and good health to them. My love to you both.

Our GOLD MEDAL free throw shooter........

Em was the free throw champion of her school.
They compete in their age group, and the winner gets to go to a shoot off with their peers from
other schools. Today was the big day. There were 4 girls in her group. I don't know where they were from, but they had to shoot 25 free throws, and who ever made the most was declared the winner. Emily made 15 out of 25, one other girl did the same. That meant a shoot off. Now she competes again in two weeks. That's exciting. Here is a link to her Mom's blog...

First shot of the competition

Emily waiting her turn

This is a video I took of Emily during the shoot-off. Since there was a tie between her and one other girl, they took 5 shots each, and the person who made the most won. I guess I got so excited I missed one of her shots. She shot 4 out of the 5. Her opponent was 3 out 5. She was as cool as a cucumber at that line. I think the person with the most nerves was Val, she was really pulling for her little sis. If you have your sound on, you can hear Mark exhale after she made the first basket. Just for the recap she made the first 4, and missed the 5th.

That ball is MINE!

He can say he doesn't like basketball, but he sure can play the game. He is a scrapper, and goes all out. This video shows him after the ball until he gets it. Fun to watch.

Basketball Pictures

Give me that ball!!
