On This Day, I Married MY Best Friend..........(revised)....

Forty four years ago today; at two o'clock in the afternoon; August 29, 1964,

Grace United Methodist Church.

MY BEST FRIEND AND I WERE MARRIED

THIS WAS MY HANDSOME PRINCE CHARMING
The cake was beautiful, but if you look closely you will see it tilting. Because the air conditioning system was turned off for the ceremony (it would blow the candles out), the cake started to slide.

Just a memory of a beautiful day in my life.
One of only three snapshots I have of the wedding in color.
Gary was 23 and I was 20
It was a long time ago, but yet it seems like yesterday.
It was a hot hot August Saturday,
I laugh when I think about that day now. I needed a new
pair of hose, and so we stopped to buy a pair. The netting under
the dress ripped them to shreds. Guess I didn't need new ones
after all. Gary worked at Boeing and I was a hairdresser. We
were dirt poor. By the time the preacher was paid, the hotel bill
paid and the $5.00 bottle of champagne we had less than $20.00
for two weeks. It was the best time of our lives in spite of the lack
of money. I sit and I am totally amazed at how far we came in thirty
four years. We worked hard, and worked together to have a successful
marriage and life. I think some just don't know how to do that anymore. Those
vows you take in marriage are powerful words and absolutely should
not be taken lightly or for granted. The Lord lived in our home and
IT WAS BLESSED!
