A Graduation Surprise

My oldest granddaughter is graduating from Middle School on the 20th of May. I thought long and hard about what could I give her to commemorate this occasion. It's not like graduating from high school or college, but it is a very big deal at the private school she attends, and I might add, it's a big deal with me. It is a momentous time for this young lady, because she is going to high school in the fall. WOW, I say again...where does the time go. Her Mom has been posting pictures of her when she was a wee one. She always had the biggest smile and the brightest blue eyes.

She has been playing around with blush, and eye make-up, and so I thought this might be a good time to take her to someone who could show her how it's done. I made an appointment at a salon called Beau Monde. Beau Monde is a spa and boutique. Today, we spent and hour or so learning how to apply make up, choosing all the "right" colors and the proper application. Jasmine was her make up artist, and she was so special. She took one look at her and that beautiful skin she has, and said, you don't need very much, maybe some blush and eye color. She took her through the routine and was very careful to explain, that even though the girls in high school were making up their eyes with black liner, she didn't need to do that. She gave her tips on how to line her eyes, using the shadow instead of drawing the black line. It was so pretty, and when she was finished, what she had done was just enhance the beauty that was already there. Val is one of those lucky girls, that has the clearest prettiest skin we all dreamed of having when we were her age. I shudder to think about some of the drug store goo that girls use on their faces. She was introduced to mineral makeup, which I believe is the best you can use on any type of skin or any age. It is natural, and like I said before, it enhances what is already there. No chemicals, nothing that would create a problem for her down the road. Mineral makeup is one you can sleep in, if you forget to remove it.

So my gift to Val was the spa treatment, and a purchase of the items they used on her today. It was so much fun, and I hope that she had fun too. Congratulations my sweet Valleri, you will be a dynamite freshman next year. Not to mention, the prettiest girl there. I love you sweets.
