Something About Me

Tomorrow is an exciting day for me. It will be my first day of my 'new' job called volunteering.
The little ditty below just about sums it up.
I will let you know how it goes, but it should be exciting and a brand new adventure for me. It is something I have always wanted to do, and excited to do. Wish me luck It's been a long time since I was told what to wear, colors I mean. Should be interesting. I will just be a carbon copy of all the CSR's that volunteer. Black pants, white shirt, gold (yes gold) vest. Oh yeah, no open toed shoes.
Meeting and greeting should be a piece of cake, looking up room numbers might be challenging until I learn the computer system. So until next time, I have only one thing left to say:
I REALLY HAVE JOINED THE RANKS OF THE RETIRED.

Memorial Day Tradition

For the past 9 years; my family and I have a Memorial Day tradition. We visit the graves of our loved ones, decorate the sites and then it's off to Walt's Hamburger Hut. We enjoy "greasy" hamburgers, fries and ice cream malts.

It is a time that I look forward to every year. In years passed we have attended the Memorial Day services that are held, that ceremony consists of speeches, and wonderful music. I think my favorite is the bag pipers playing Amazing Grace.

The last couple of years we have not attended the service, and waited until the crowd cleared, visited the sites and then off to Walt's. I think in the 9 years we have done this, this is the first time that Kansas' spring storms have caused a problem. Mark's family made decorations this year, and they wanted to place them, so we slopped through the flooded grounds to do that. It was a watery mess. In spite of that, the area was beautiful with all the giant flags flying and of course the lovely flowers.
The time together was too short. And the saying it's not about the quantity of time you spend together, it's the quality; is true. I treasure those times.
